World No. 1 Pakistan started their Asia Cup campaign with a bang on Wednesday, August 30. The team defeated Nepal by a huge margin of 238 runs in the opening match. This is Pakistan’s biggest win in this tournament.
After winning the toss and batting first, Pakistan scored 342 runs for 6 wickets in 50 overs. In reply, Nepal team was bowled out for 104 runs in 23.4 overs. Pakistan captain Babar Azam who played an innings of 151 runs was the player of the match.
Captain Babar Azam, Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan were the heroes of Pakistan’s victory.
There were no wickets in the middle overs as the Nepali fast bowlers dismissed Fakhar and Imam and put Pakistan under pressure. The team sent the Pakistani openers to the pavilion for 25 runs, but Babar-Rizwan took over the innings. The Nepali bowlers then failed to take wickets in the middle overs. After which Pakistan made a huge score of 342 runs.
