Asia Cup Update : Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 5 wickets

Defending champions Sri Lanka have started the Asia Cup-2023 with a win. The team defeated Bangladesh by 5 wickets in their first match of Group B. The team has defeated Bangladesh in ODI Asia Cup after 9 years. Sri Lanka’s last win came in 2014 at the Mirpur ground.
Bangladesh have given Sri Lanka a target of 165 runs. In response, Sri Lanka chased down the target by losing 5 wickets in 39 overs. Charith Aslanka and Sadira Samarawickrama played half-centuries.

Samaravikrama’s fourth fifty
Samarawickrama scored the fourth fifty of his ODI career. He played an innings of 54 runs. Samarawickrama scored runs at a strike rate of 70.13 in his 77-ball innings. His innings included 6 fours.

Sri Lanka does not have Hasaranga, responsibility on Thiksana
Sri Lanka team is in Group-B along with Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The match against Bangladesh will be challenging for Sri Lanka. The team’s best spinner Vanindu Hasaranga is not part of the team due to injury. Dushmantha Chamira, Lahiru Kumara, Dilshan Madushanka and Avishka Fernando are also injured along with him. Corona infected Kusal Perera is part of the team, but he too will not play the first match.
